Howdy Folks!
Hope everyone is having a great holiday season. As we enter this new year, please consider supporting your community by staying involved with our neighborhood association. We appreciate every one of you and need your support. The beginning of the year means it is time to renew memberships. It also helps out when you talk to your neighbors and encourage them to join.
This year, we are trying out a new online registration form. All you need to do to fill it out is head to http://northflorence.org/registration and fill out the form. Paper forms will be available at the meeting if you prefer to use a hard copy. Dues are $10 and can be paid by check at the next meeting or mailed to the treasurer, Janice Branch, at 524 W Merle Ln, Peoria, IL 61604. Finally, if you notice any new folks moving in, feel free to let us know so we can get them a welcome packet.
With a new year comes resolutions and goals. The board would like to create more opportunities for connecting with each other this year, especially folks who are newer to the neighborhood or have young children. One proposed activity could be holding a friendly holiday decoration competition for Halloween and Christmas. If you have other suggestions, feel free to send them our way.

Quarterly Poem
Thoughts
Myra Viola Wilds
What kind of thoughts now, do you carry
In your travels day by day
Are they bright and lofty visions,
Or neglected, gone astray?
Matters not how great in fancy,
Or what deeds of skill you’ve wrought;
Man, though high may be his station,
Is no better than his thoughts.
Catch your thoughts and hold them tightly,
Let each one an honor be;
Purge them, scourge them, burnish brightly,
Then in love set each one free.

Around the Block
Thank you to everyone who showed up to the short-notice public opinion meeting last month regarding the rezoning of 3616 N. Sheridan Rd. Especially thank you to those who put in the time to visit folks for petitions and organize the meeting. The zoning committee has rejected the proposal to rezone.
If you would like to submit your joke, poem, or feel good story to the NFNA Quarterly, please send it to Timothy Albertson at nfnamail@northflorence.org
Note: I reserve the right to review and reject any submission if I find it not in alignment with NFNA objectives.
